On-Site Blasting & Coating
Large fixed structure or tight outage window? We mobilize for on-site surface prep and coating with trained crews and access equipment.
Jobsite-ready crews and equipment
For work that can’t be shipped—or work that must be completed during a shutdown—Sandmans brings media blasting, surface preparation, and coating application to your location. We support complex industrial structures where access, containment, and safety planning are required.
Typical field scopes include:
- Structural steel and industrial equipment
- Tanks, platforms, and fixed installations
- Large assemblies that exceed shipping limits
- Maintenance windows and turnaround work
On-site workflow
Site review + scope confirmation
Access points, surface condition, nearby operations, and schedule constraints.
Containment + controls
Containment controls dust/debris; if silica may be present, OSHA requires exposure controls and respiratory protection.
Surface prep
Abrasive blasting or other prep method based on substrate and coating spec.
Coating application
Primer/top coat systems matched to exposure conditions (industrial, marine/coastal, chemical splash, abrasion).
Inspection + closeout
Finish checks and documentation aligned to project requirements.
Ideal for
- Fixed structures and equipment that can’t be moved
- Shutdown windows and maintenance turnarounds
- Large industrial scopes needing lifts, scaffolding, and controlled work zones
- Projects requiring defined surface prep and coating procedures (spec-driven work)
Access equipment and high-risk work readiness
If the scope requires it, we plan and execute work involving:
- Aerial lifts / boom lifts (OSHA outlines requirements for aerial lifts, including authorized operators and safe working practices).
- Confined spaces (OSHA defines confined spaces and permit-required confined space criteria).
- Scaffolding and elevated access (integrated into job planning as needed)
