Teflon (Fluoropolymer Coatings)

Non-stick, low-friction coating for dry film lubrication, toughness, and abrasion resistance.

Built for manufacturing & industrial parts

Fluoropolymer coatings are used when you need:

  • Low friction (parts move easier, less wear)
  • Non-stick / release (material sheds easier)
  • Chemical resistance and protection in demanding environments

Sandmans can set up process steps to meet your fluoropolymer coating requirements—from high-volume small parts to large items up to 18′ long (based on dimensions and weight).

Key performance characteristics

  • Very low coefficient of friction and strong non-stick performance
  • Used for industrial and manufacturing components (machined and non-machined)
  • Applied to clean, properly prepared metal and baked/cured for performance

Fluoropolymer systems have specific cure/bake temperatures depending on the type (PTFE, FEP, PFA, “Teflon S,” etc.). Your part must tolerate the required bake temp.

Typical parts and use cases

  • Slides, guides, rails, chutes (low friction)
  • Wear components and moving interfaces (dry film lubrication)
  • Release surfaces (non-stick)
  • Industrial parts requiring chemical resistance

How fluoropolymer coating is applied

Confirm part material + bake limit

We verify the substrate can withstand the coating’s cure temperature.

Surface prep

Parts are cleaned and prepared to support adhesion (prep requirements depend on the system).

Apply coating

Fluoropolymer coatings are typically spray-applied as liquids (some systems may be powder).

Bake / cure

Coatings are baked to reach final film properties. Cure ranges vary by coating type.

High-volume ready

For ongoing production, we support repeat workflows for:

  • High-volume small parts
  • Repeat runs with consistent processing steps
  • Parts that need low-friction, non-stick performance as a standard requirement
